Lowe makes the call
William Lowe has made a verbal commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Lowe made his decision over the weekend.According to a report in the Cleveland Plain Dealer today, Glenville cornerback
"He committed to Iowa," Lowe's mom told us on Monday morning, adding that William will give us a call back after school today.
Lowe picked the Hawkeyes after making official visits to Indiana and NC State in addition to Iowa. After his trip to Iowa City on December 14, the two-star prospect spoke very highly of his time in the Hawkeye State.
"The campus is really nice," Lowe said. "I talked to a couple of professors in the business department and it sounds like I'd have an opportunity to graduate with a good degree. Everybody was really nice there, especially the coaches."
As a senior, Lowe played on both sides of the ball for Coach Ted Ginn, Sr. at Glenville, lining up at running back and defensive back. On defense, he finished with 19 tackles, four pass deflections, and two interceptions, while on offense he had 477 rushing yards and four touchdowns. It is at cornerback where the Hawkeyes currently project Lowe, as they look to replace two starters and also add depth at the position.
"They told me how both of their corners were seniors, so both starting jobs are wide open," said Lowe last month. "They said I could come in and compete for a spot."
HawkeyeReport.com will have much more on William Lowe's decision later in the day.
