BOL's A-Day fan guide

With the annual A-Day game approaching, BamaOnLine.com is a Crimson Tide fan's one-stop source for information on attending the game. Below is a complete look at what is happening, when it's happening and how to get there.

The Basics

What: The 2008 A-Day game is the final intra-squad scrimmage of spring practice for the Alabama football team.

Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Ala.

When: Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CST, with stadium gates opening at noon.

Tickets: A-Day is a free, unticketed event.

Television: The game will be broadcast live on CSS.

Radio: The Crimson Tide Sports Network will broadcast the game to its affiliates, including 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa.


The Arrival

What is the best route to campus?: The University of Alabama has four designated routes to campus for the best possible traffic flow, depending on the direction of your arrival. Click here for UA's official route map.

Where should I park?: Various locations on campus will be designated for open parking. Click here for UA's official A-Day parking and traffic map. For official RV parking information, click here.

Can I shuttle to the game?: Yes. The Crimson Ride Transit System is a free shuttle service that will be operating on A-Day. Click here for the transit system's scheduled route map for A-Day. Also, Tuscaloosa Transit operates from University Mall and is $10 round trip.

The Weekend

What events surrounding the game can I attend this weekend?
There are several:
  • 'Kickoff on the Quad' is the university's official tailgate party, set to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. It will include assorted food and merchandise vendors as well as children's activities.
  • The Bryant Museum, located on Bryant Drive across from Coleman Coliseum, will be open from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday.
  • 'Relay for Life', a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will take place from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. at the center of the Quad.
  • The 'Walk of Fame', where Alabama's 2007 permanent captains (Antoine Caldwell, Darren Mustin and Rashad Johnson) will cement their place in UA history, will take place at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Denny Chimes.
  • UA Athletics and Terry Saban will help raise funds to benefit academics by taking donations for the University libraries at the A-Day Game. Mrs. Saban, UA students, faculty, staff, and student-athletes, including members of the UA men's basketball team, will be collecting donations at each gate at Bryant-Denny Stadium and in the Walk of Champions area prior to the A-Day Game.
  • Former Alabama star George Teague has organized the 11th annual "Night of Champions", a charity basketball game to be held at the Bryant High gymnasium on Friday night at 7 p.m. Up to 33 former UA standouts are expected to play, including John Copeland, D.J. Hall, Antonio London, David Palmer, Antonio Langham, Deshea Townsend and many others.

    Where can I meet fellow BamaOnLine.com subscribers?: The annual BOL A-Day gathering will be held at the corner of Elm Dr. and University Blvd. (across from the Quad in front of Little Hall) starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.     The Coverage

    How much coverage of A-Day can I expect from BamaOnLine.com?: The A-Day game will get the same full-coverage treatment from BOL as any regular season game in the fall. Watch for coverage of Nick Saban's post-practice press conference previewing the game on Thursday. On Friday, BOLevision offers a video preview of A-Day. And on Saturday, BOL's blanket coverage will include an advance feature, a game story, a sidebar, a notebook, Travis Reier's popular Outside the Box opinion column, a photo gallery from T.G. Paschal and post-game video.
