Williams announces for UNC at Army Bowl
U.S. Army All-American Bowl coverage | More all-star coverageMORE:
SAN ANTONIO - West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial offensive lineman Brennan Williams had narrowed his list of schools down to two heading into the U.S. Army All American Bowl.
The 6-foot-6, 272-pounder chose North Carolina over Boston College on national television on Saturday.
"North Carolina was a little different because I had the chance to see my major in action in a different field," he said.
"I plan to major in graphic arts, and at North Carolina they showed me the major and how it applied in journalism.
"It was really cool. UNC got in the race a little late but it was a very good experience."
Clearly the experience was good enough to earn the Tar Heels a commitment. Williams also had offers from Virginia, Wake Forest, Michigan and others but in the end decided to head away to school and play for head coach Butch Davis.
Rivals.com rates Williams as the seventh-best offensive guard nationally, the No. 1 recruit in Massachusetts and No. 169 in the Rivals 250.
