The Starting Five

Throughout football season, PowerMizzou.com put together our weekly list of the 11 Tigers who had the best week in a feature called Tuesday's Top Tigers. With basketball season now in full swing, we put a hoops twist on that feature. Each Tuesday from now through the end of the season, PowerMizzou.com will honor the top Tiger basketball players in a feature called The Starting Five. Our list this week included a loss at Kansas State and a bounce-back win over Baylor.

The Starting Five
1 DeMarre Carroll, F Carroll gets the nod for the top spot because he was one of only two players who did much of anything against Kansas State. He wasn't great, but he was okay. And he followed it up with 25 big points against Baylor 1
2 Leo Lyons, F Lyons scored 13 against the Wildcats, but most of those came when the game was decided. But he was huge against Baylor, going for a career-high 30. NR
3 J.T. Tiller, G Tiller himself called his play against Kansas State a "debacle." But he came back with ten points, eight assists and seven boards against Baylor. Good enough to definitely earn a spot on this list. 2
4 Matt Lawrence, G/F Lawrence was the only player who appeared to have any interest in staying on the court with Kansas State. He hit his first five shots in the first half to try to keep the Tigers in it, but he just didn't have any help. NR
5 Mike Anderson, Head Coach He is here for two reasons. Number one, you try to find a fifth player that had two decent games. Number two, coming off a devastating loss, Anderson's team had to beat Baylor. He got them ready to do so, in large part by putting Lyons back in the starting lineup even if no one other than him was sure it was the right move. NR
