With 12 games of the 2016 season officially in the books, No. 17 Florida (8-4, 6-2) now is two weeks away from its matchup with Iowa in the Outback Bowl in Tampa on Jan. 2 to put a wrap on the year. In the meanwhile, Inside the Gators uses the break to deliver our 2016 season superlatives.

THE PLAYERS

MVP offense: The most productive player on the offensive side of the ball this season was sophomore running back Jordan Scarlett, who currently has a team-best 795 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 165 carries (4.8 YPC). In four of Florida's five victories since the start of October, Scarlett has rushed for at least 90 yards.

MVPs defense: The cornerback tandem of Jalen "Teez" Tabor and Quincy Wilson gets the nod here. The duo of future early-round NFL draft picks is arguably the best pairing at their position in the country, as they made life difficult for opposing passing attacks in 2016.

Significantly boosted his draft stock: Defensive tackle Caleb Brantley opted to return to school for his 2016 season - and the decision certainly paid off. Brantley has been one of most disruptive tackles in the conference - and one of the best pass rushers at his position nationally. Brantley has 8.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries this season.
