Cooper Mays is still in the midst of his sophomore year at Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic, but the nationally-recognized offensive lineman is certainly off to a great start, possessing a half-dozen offers, including Florida.

Mays, the brother of 2018 five-star offensive tackle and Georgia signee, Cade Mays, received the green light from Dan Mullen's staff on Tuesday morning after receiving word from his coach.

"I’ve never visited Gainesville before, but I have heard it’s a great place," Mays said. "I don’t know much about the staff, but I’m looking forward to getting to know them over the next two seasons.

"I do know they are bringing a new energy to the program and are excited about trying to get UF back to the top of the SEC."

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Mays, who projects inside at center or guard, already has plans in place in regards to journeying out campuses, but is hoping to get a taste of the Swamp during the fall.

"I am going down to Georgia this weekend to watch practice," Mays said. "Also, I’m going to Tennessee on April 14 for a day with a lot of other 2020 prospects. I’ve got a lot of schools that I want to visit, but not a lot of time to get to them, so it’s hard to make it to each one.

"I’m not sure when I will make it down to Florida, but hopefully for a big game this year."

Equpped with additional offers from Georgia, Ohio State and Auburn among others, Mays says his recruitment is currently "wide open."
