2021 ATH schedules third Gators visit of the fall

Xavian Sorey has stepped foot inside the Swamp twice this fall, and is now scheduled to return on Saturday for the Gators' home finale against Idaho.

Sorey, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound sophomore who possesses a verbal offer from UCF as well, straps up the pads roughly three and a half hours away at Graceville (Fla.) High.

"I visited for two of the games, and Florida vs. LSU was one of them. I’m going to their game this Saturday too," Sorey told GatorsTerritory. "I’ve visited multiple times, been to a camp there. I always enjoy being around coach Mullen and hanging around coach Sal (Sunseri).

"Great men, great program. They’re turning it around and getting it going in the right direction."

The versatile athlete was rewarded with his UF offer back on Jan. 22 when defensive line coach Sal Sunseri made a pit stop at Graceville High.

"Coach Sal came and offered me. It was a day I’ll never forget," Sorey said. "He came by the school one morning in late January during my freshman year."

Sorey, who has racked up nearly 1,500 yards of total offense in 2018, suits up at running back and safety for his high school. However, with still two years of prep football left on his plate, the Gators are taking a wait-and-see approach by courting Sorey as an athlete.

The 2021 prospect takes on the role of a wildcat quarterback as well, but will likely play defense on the collegiate level.

"The first thing I like is the way the team bonds; it’s like a family, "Sorey said of Florida. "They have a great coaching staff that pushes them. I love the culture and the fans, and also the athletes they create."

Sorey has no additional visits scheduled at this time.
