4-star Edwards hitting the road once again

When the latest rankings came out they showed that Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater safety Lorenzo Edwards had fallen out of the Rivals100 and landed in the Rivals250. It wasn't so much has what he has or hasn't done, but rather where he does or doesn't project on the next level.
At the Miami NIKE Camp the consensus seemed to be that Edwards was attempting to play safety with the build of a linebacker.

"I like his potential much better as a linebacker at the next level," said Rivals.com Southeast Recruiting Analyst J.C. Shurburtt. "He's got a better build for the position and his lack of high end speed won't hurt him as much.
"He is an excellent tackler and is very good at run support, which is what you look for out of a linebacker. So I would say that if we were evaluating him at that position his rating would be higher."
To this point, for the most part, college coaches are telling him they see him as a hybrid type. Edwards, however, understands how the recruiting game is played.
"Actually Georgia has been the only one right now who has said they would use me as a linebacker," said Edwards. "I keep it in the back of my mind that because of my size, I could possibly be moved. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens.
"I say surprised, basically I do that because I wouldn't want to feel disappointed because I know I'm capable of playing both. I've been told that I'll be moved around, safety and outside linebacker."
Regardless of the position, what isn't in question is that Edwards is one of the most sought after prospects in the nation this year. He has his pick of elite colleges from which to attend.
Along those lines he has been hitting the road in an attempt to find the right fit.
He stayed busy over the spring visiting Florida, Florida State and Miami instate and Notre Dame, Michigan and Northwestern in the Midwest.
Up next is a trip to the Carolinas, a return to Gainesville and another voyage out-of-state.
"My first unofficial visits of the summer starts on Monday. I'm going to be visiting Wake Forest, Duke and Clemson," said Edwards. "I'm coming back to go to Florida's camp on July 21st.
"After that I've been talking to my dad and we want to take a visit later on to Tennessee, Georgia and Georgia Tech."
In the day and age of early commitments, Edwards is going against the grain. As of today, is unwilling and unable to narrow his list down to a select few. That is why he continues on his tour of college campuses.
"The reason behind the unofficial visits is because these schools have offered me a scholarship and I want to learn as much as possible so that I'll be able to make an informed decision as to the school that best suits me.
"I'm probably going to get it down to eight to ten soon and try to get down to the five I want to take official visits to this fall."
When it does come time to make a decision the 6-foot-2, 220-pound, 4-star prospect said he is looking for the following. "Academics with my major (Architecture). Second of all would be coaching and then depth chart."
