Could Florida flip Franks?

This past Friday the Wakulla War Eagles pulled off a 21-16 win over Pensacola Bay in the first round of the playoffs. Quarterback Feleipe Franks threw a touchdown pass in the win.

The Rivals100 product is making some noise off the field as well.

The weekend before that big game, the LSU commit made a trip to Gainesville to see Florida take on Vanderbilt.

"It was pretty good," said Franks of the visit. "I just wanted to take a visit and watch the game and it was a pretty good visit."

During that visit Franks got a chance to sit and talk with UF head coach Jim McElwain. During their talk the head Gator did some catching up with the four-star passer.

"Last weekend I talked to him a good bit," said Franks of McElwain. "Same thing just talking to him not really about recruiting, but football - like how high school is going. Kind of my season more rather than Florida. I think that goes to show you how they think of me more as a person and my season than they are selling their program."

The Gators have been coming after Franks hard since McElwain took the position at Florida, as a matter of fact, he is a player Mac is personally recruiting.

According to the star signal caller, the Florida coaches have been impressive.

"Coach Mac is a great coach and I like Coach [Doug] Nussmeier as a person and a coach. It was a good game. I loved watching that game. It was a close game. It was fun to get out and get down that way and watch the game."

Besides a few trips to Baton Rouge this fall, Franks has also been to both Gainesville and Tallahassee for games. Going forward Franks is unsure of any other visits down the road.

"Honestly, I don't know," said Franks. "I am taking it day by day - talking about official visits or just a [one] visit. I don't even know yet. I'm just talking to my parents about when we can get free, because my dad has a lot of military duty coming up. I'm just trying to get a weekend where we can get all of us down there (to Florida). Just taking it day by day."

During his visits to the in-state programs Franks made sure to keep his eye on a few things that he is looking for out of a school, but made sure to take into account more than just what happened on the field.

"I honestly look at it the same way with everyone. How the team responds, how I get along with teammates and how the academics are at the school just little things like that. It's not really about the necessity for a quarterback I don't really look into the football aspect of I, that's kind of weird coming from a quarterback because that is what you expect."

Despite visits to other colleges, the 6-foot-6, 203-pounder says his commitment to LSU is strong.

"They're good, they stand pretty good," said Franks of LSU. "I am just going to check out great atmosphere's FSU had a great atmosphere and Florida had a great atmosphere. Both great atmospheres and LSU also had a great one too. Just going to watch all the big games I can."

Going forward if Franks were to check out any other campuses again his visit choices are slim with only a few weekends left to pick from. The No. 10 prospect in the state of Florida is planning to enroll early, so any visits made would have to come before the Army All-American game in January.

"After the Army game," said Franks of his enrollment. "I will fly from the Army game to wherever. I wouldn't really say it would take something significant (to change my mind). I just have to fall in love with the school. My heart would have to tell me to go there.
