Could legacy prospect earn an offer
Yasir Abdullah is a team first player.
Standing at 6-foot-2, and weighing 205-pounds, Abdullah had to play along the defensive line his junior season, something most players his size do not have to do.
“When I first got to Carol City, one of the players aged out, and he was a d-end, so I had to take his position, for the team,” Abdullah said.
The Miami native more than held his own at the position, even though he was going against opponents that outweighed him by 100 pounds regularly.
Before making the switch to play on the defensive line, Abdullah played in the secondary, and that is where he expects to play when he gets to college.
“I originally played nickelback and strong safety. That’s where I played at the school before I came to Carol City. It’s more exciting, it’s fast; I liked it. My dad (Xavier McCray) basically played that at Florida, so he taught me everything I know there.”
