Up today is Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest defensive end Tevin Westbrook.
InsidetheGators.com: Looking back, would you change anything about the recruiting process?
Westbrook: "Some of the schools that I cancelled out earlier and the way I went about my visits. I would have brought my family to a lot more [schools] and taken other things into consideration when I visited and built a better relationship with some of the coaches."
InsidetheGators.com: What was your favorite part about the recruiting process and what was the worst?
Westbrook: "My favorite would be going to see so many schools and enjoying myself, taking it all in. The worst would be the decision of which school I was going to and the calls every night from the different coaches. The harassment, basically."
InsidetheGators.com: Why did you end up picking Florida?
Westbrook: "Just because I felt like it was a great academic school and athletic-wise, too. I feel like any school I go to, if I got hurt, I want to have a good academic background."
InsidetheGators.com: When are you reporting to UF and what are your plans between now and then?
Westbrook: June 20th. I am just working out as much as I can and just basically staying focused and keeping in shape until then. I have a workout plan that they gave me.
InsidetheGators.com: What are your goals as a freshman?
Westbrook: "I just want to get better, learn the defense, and get on the field as soon as possible. If not this year then [by] my sophomore year."
InsidetheGators.com: Is there a certain number you are hoping to wear?
Westbrook: "90, 89 or 99. They were high school numbers, and I want to stick with that."
InsidetheGators.com: Are you close with any of the other incoming freshmen?
Westbrook: "I'm close with one or two of them who live in the area, I'm cool with them - Jacoby Brissett and Marcus Roberson."
InsidetheGators.com: Tell us something that Gator Nation may not know about you.
Westbrook: "Just because I'm not as high[ly ranked] as every other recruit may be, I'm more than likely going to come in and make a difference."
InsidetheGators.com: How much Gator gear have you bought since you committed?
Westbrook: "I haven't really bought anything, but my mom and my father, they've bought a lot. They've bought some shirts and a couple of hats. I've got like five hats now."
InsidetheGators.com: What has been your impression on the new coaching staff?
Westbrook: "They're incredible, honestly. The coaching staff that was put together is phenomenal. They're bringing a lot of NFL knowledge to Florida, so just by learning from them, they can help me become as good as I want to get."
NOTES
- Westbrook said he is in great academic standing and that "everything is taken care of" on that front.
