Florida's season ends on a low note, falling 38-22 to arch-rival Florida State at home. The Gators end the year 4-7 with no possibility of a bowl berth.
Inside the Gators delivers Five Fast Thoughts about Saturday's home loss, the end of the season and what's next.
1. Feleipe Franks needs to be coached: For all the play-calling criticism aimed at the offensive coordinator, one could argue the bigger indictment of Doug Nussmeier is the lack of development of Franks. For almost two years (since January 2016), Franks has been coached by Nussmeier. We've seen Franks make some improvement since his deer-in-the-headlights 2016 spring game, but not enough.
This season, the same issues Franks showed in September – lack of pocket presence, staring down receivers, poor decision-making on scrambles – were still on display in November. There are occasional flashes, like the touchdown throw to senior wide receiver Brandon Powell, that should give the next offensive coordinator some hope.
