Florida Announces Five Signings

The University of Florida football team has received National Letter-of-Intents from five junior college players, Florida coach Ron Zook announced Wednesday afternoon -- offensive lineman Tavarus Washington (6-3, 295, Mississippi Delta Junior College), Anthony Guerrero (6-3, 305, Cerritos Junior College, Calif.), Billy Griffin (6-4, 290, Ventura Junior College, Calif.), along with tight end

David Kenner (6-4, 255, Lackawana Junior College, Penn.) and

defensive tackle Eric Holcombe (6-3, 280, Northeast Mississippi Community College) will enroll at Florida for the spring semester.

All five are eligible to practice for Florida's bowl game against Michigan.

"We are very excited about this group coming into the Gator program," Zook said. "They are quality players as well as quality people. Like the rest of our players, they are excited to be in the Gator family. Our staff did a tremendous job recruiting these players and we are looking forward to working with them."

Both Washington and Guerrero were named First-Team Junior College

All-Americas at their positions. Washington attended high school at South Delta in Rolling Fork, Miss., while Guerrero went to Downey High School in California.

Griffin attended Ventura High School, signed with Montana State out of high school, but then returned to his hometown junior college a week later. Kenner was named Junior College Honorable Mention All-America  at tight end. He went to high school career at

Frankford in Philadelphia. Holcombe was third-team All-America after attending W.P. Davidson High School in Mobile, Ala.
