Florida basketball offers four prospects on Thursday

The Florida men’s basketball program remains busy during the current quiet period watching video of prospects, reviewing notes and on Thursday extending scholarship offers.

Four of them to be exact, including one to a freshman.

Four-star junior small forward Kimani Lawrence of New Hampton Prep (N.H.), four-star junior post player Xavier Tillman of Grand Rapids Christian (Mich.), three-star junior forward RaiQuan Gray of Dillard High School (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Newton High School (Covington, Ga.) freshman Ashton Hagans.

In last weekend’s Nike EYBL session in Hampton, Virginia, Lawrence averaged 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in four games for Expressions Elite, Tillman averaged 15.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Spiece Indy Heat. Tillman had double-doubles in three out of four games this past weekend in Hampton.

Tillman, a 6-foot-8, 260-pounder is one of at least five high major Division I prospects playing for Spiece Indy Heat. In three EYBL sessions is averaging 13.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, and shooting a blistering 64.4 percent from the floor.

Lawrence saved his best performance for his last game in Hampton with 30pts (13-16 FG, 3-3 3FG) and five rebounds in Expression Elite’s win over the New Jersey Playaz.

Hagans, is an aggressive young point guard with excellent size at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds and runs the pick and roll very well for a youngster. He helped lead Newton to a 26-5 record this past season and is currently playing for the Georgia Stars 15U team.

Gray, who plays for the Florida Vipers in the Under Armour Association, was idle last weekend, but in two UAA sessions, Gray is averaging 9.4 points per game, while shooting .627 percent from the field and is four-of-nine on three-point attempts. Gray is the Vipers leading rebounder pulling down 5.9 rebounds per contest while also averaging 1.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

“I’m so excited man I can’t explain,” said Gray of the Gators offer. “Man I’m happy.”

The No. 140 ranked player in the Rivals150, Gray was measured at 6-foot-7, 250 pounds with a 6-foot-11 wing span. He’s skilled with some finesse, can knock down the open jumper out to the arc and is a willing defender.
