Florida coaches visit Rivals100 Clayton, another SEC program in pursuit

On Saturday University of Florida assistants Geoff Collins and Chris Rumph took a break from hosting official visitors on campus in order to stop by the home of Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County Rivals100 defensive end Antonneous Clayton.

“The visit went really great, We talked some football, but we really focused on family now with Florida,” said Clayton of the visit. “It’s good because we are really close and it gets a lot of the pressure off your shoulders as a recruit to be comfortable with people.”

The Gators actually have eight official visitors currently on campus during the time of the in home visit. Seeing his future coaches take time away from prospects not yet on the commitment list to come see him is something that impressed the four-star pass rusher.

“That really means a lot if you really look at it,” said Clayton with a chuckle. “They have official visitors there, but still took some time out of their day to come see me. That let me know I am a high priority for them. I did well at the Under Armour game and beat a lot of lineman, so my talent got out there, so they want to show I am still a priority.”

The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder has been solid in his verbal pledge to the Gators since pulling the trigger in October. However, that hasn’t stopped other schools from chasing him with only a few weeks left until pen goes to paper on National Signing Day.

The Auburn Tigers are one program in particular that has been in touch with Clayton recently.

“They want to come for an in-home visit on Monday, but I still have to schedule that,” said Clayton. “If I did take a visit it would have to be the 29th [of January] because I go to Florida on the 22nd. I am still not sure if I want to go or not because man I am really loyal to Florida and my commitment. I already put out there I wasn’t going to take any other visits, so I don’t know.”

As for now the only visit Clayton has set in stone is a visit to Florida next weekend. After so many trips to Gainesville for Clayton in the past, this most recent visit is more about his family seeing the campus.

“I am excited to go down there, but probably more excited that my family gets to come down there. They won’t be there as often as me so I want to make sure my little brother sees it and everything. I come from a small town so I want them to see that and open that experience to my family.”
