Inside the Gators' Landon Watnick asked for subscribers to submit their Florida football questions in the Alley. In this first segment of a two-part Q&A with the ITG membership, Watnick discusses Florida's freshmen quarterbacks, breakout picks for 2017 and more.

From kalimgoodman: What are you hearing about the young QBs?

LW: Although Feleipe Franks made noticeable strides during the fall and worked his way toward becoming Florida's No. 2 backup with Luke Del Rio out with numerous injuries, the separation between he and Kyle Trask hasn't been significant. Both have excellent tools to work with at the quarterback position and have definitely improved their knowledge of the playbook (and playing quarterback in general), but each is still somewhat raw.

Jim McElwain basically hinted at that when discussing why Austin Appleby would be the starter against Iowa. When discussing the two freshmen, McElwain said, "Sometimes you hold them back because maybe they’re not ready." Appleby's comments about Franks and Trask were also enlightening, as he said when they first arrived in the spring they "didn't know how to call a play. They had no idea who a Mike was, what's an X."
