Florida in Picture for Carter

While Palm Bay (Fla.) wide receiver Xavier Carter was recently attending a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting, his dad, Ken Carter, gave InsidetheGators.net the rundown on where Carter currently stands in recruiting.
The only official visit Carter has scheduled at this point in time is to LSU on Nov. 7, Ken Carter said.

He added that Xavier will set up an official visit to Florida. Since he has attended Florida games already, Florida wants him to visit after the season in either December or January.
“He is definitely going to take a look at Florida,” Ken Carter said. “That is the ideal situation. It is an ideal situation with the combination of their football and track programs. I do know that Florida is one of his favorites.”
The rest of the schools Carter is taking into serious consideration are UCLA, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee and South Carolina, with UCLA the next potential school to get an official visit scheduled.
Right now, Carter is focused on football and then will play basketball. After basketball concludes, Carter will turn his attention to track. His track coach wants him to give up basketball so he can focus on qualifying for the Olympics but Carter is resistant to do that, but still is planning on partaking in the Olympic qualifying meet.
“That is a real big goal for him,” Ken Carter said.
Many critics are bagging Carter as a football prospect, saying all he has is speed. Obviously they are not watching the tapes as Carter has no dropped passes on the season and is making Dante Hall-like moves returning punts.
“People who don’t know him are saying that he is going to be like (former UF football/track athlete) John Capel, a straight-line runner,” Ken Carter said. “They don’t realize that he is an athlete. He does well in basketball. The baseball coach has been trying to get him for three years to come out. He can do track and football. He is really a great athlete in all four sports. He is just a blessed athlete.”
