It may have be a dead period as far as the calendar is concerned, but Florida's staff never really hits the pause button when it comes to recruiting. Over the last several weeks the Gators have been working hard in order to get a jump on the prospects in the Class of 2018.

One new name added to the board earlier this month was Miami (Fla.) Carol City safety Randy Russell.

According to the three-star defender, his offer from the Orange and Blue came from Florida defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.
