With roughly 24 offers already this spring it's no surprise that Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough Rivals 100 defensive end Jordan Sherit is considered to be one of the top prospects in the nation, let alone in the state of Florida.
This weekend the talented prospect is checking out the University of Florida for the second time this spring. This visit however began with a pleasant surprise for Sherit.
"I came up with Scott Peek's family, he plays for UF. I got here late today and missed practice, but I've been to Florida for a Junior Day and have seen most of the facilities and the campus," explained Sherit. "This time I talked to the coaches and got to know them a little better than I have in the past. Then I sat down with Coach [Will] Muschamp in his office with him and Coach [Dan] Quinn that's when they offered me."
While in Muschamp's office he got to talk what his role would be if he were to eventually sign with the Orange and Blue.
"They said they have been looking at my film and they think I could fill the role for them at the Buck position, and they said I should keep working hard and come talk to them again tomorrow before the spring game."
Even though he has accumulated numerous offers to date, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound lineman said that the offer from Florida was one that meant a lot to him.
"I wouldn't have come to Florida as many times as I have if it didn't mean a lot to me, so this offer was big for me. I don't have a top 5 or anything like that, I'm trying to take some visits to narrow that down, but if I did have a list Florida would definitely be on it."
When naming things that he finds important in a school the talented 4 star emphasized how much education will factor.
"The academic standpoint of a school is really important and how it will set you up for life after school, to me it's not a 4 year plan it's a 40 year plan you can't play football forever so I'm looking at that. I'm also looking at where I would want to live because I love living in Florida, also relationship with the coaches, it may be cheesy but I want a team that's like a family."
Although Sherit does not have a list of leaders right now, he said his list could get trimmed down in the near future.

I would like to go into my senior season with about 6 or 7 schools."
Sherit adds that schools most persistent with talking with him are Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Miami, Oklahoma, Stanford, Ohio State, and USF, but Florida is still a school he talks with about once every few weeks, but he thinks their talks will increase in the future.
