Florida offers, takes the lead for Georgia DB Rashad Torrence

THE LATEST: Rashad Torrence visited Florida for the third time this year Thursday and the visit could not have gone any better. The 2020 defensive back out of Marietta (Ga.) first visited Gainesville (Fla.) in February, then again during spring break, and the third time was the charm.

After camping Thursday night, he picked up that coveted Gator offer. That Florida offer has put the Gators on top for one of the top rising sophomores in the Peach State.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I was surprised by the offer," said Torrence. "I felt like I had a great camp, but I didn't think much about an offer. I just wanted to go out there and compete.

"After the camp, coach Corr told me that coach McElwain wanted to see me in his office. Once we sat down he told me I was now a Florida Gator.

"This offer means a lot to me. After my visits earlier this year they became one of my favorites. This offer puts them at the top. I love the atmosphere there on campus. The coaches make you feel like you're already a part of the family. The facility is top notch too and I plan on spending a lot of time in the Swamp."

RIVALS REACTION: Could Florida be on the verge of building a pipeline to Marietta? Azeez Ojulari is high on the Gators and he is a four-star defensive end in the 2018 class. Ramel Keyton is a four-star wide receiver and Florida has always been one of his favorites. Moving on to 2020, Harrison Bailey is an elite quarterback who has a Gator offer. He grew up a Florida fan. Now you add Torrence to this list. Marietta has quickly become one of the top programs in the state of Georgia and Florida is in the running for some of their top prospects. Torrence will be back at the Swamp this fall.
