Florida OL wants to stay home and the Gators are his top school

MIAMI — Norland High School has some beef up front and one of their top offensive line prospects is Joshua Blanchard. The 6-foot-5, 280 pound junior loves the state of Florida and if things go his way, he won't leave any time soon.

"I really want to stay home and go to one of the home-state schools when I get to college," said Blanchard. "The only school in Florida that has offered me so far is the Florida Gators and I like them a lot."

Blanchard has not been to The Swamp for a game yet, but he has attended numerous camps. The Gators are on top of his list.

"I have only been to Florida for camps and the one last summer is when I got the offer. Since then, Florida has been my top school.

"I like the vibe there a lot. They have nice facilities, the stadium is cool and I have enjoyed it each time I have been there. I plan on going back."

Blanchard has not been in contact with the new staff yet. His other offers at this time are from Bowling Green and Jackson State. He is hearing from Florida State, South Florida and UCF too.

One of those in-state schools was the school he grew up a fan of.

"Florida State was my favorite school growing up," said Blanchard. "I just watched them and started to like them. Florida is my top school now though."
