A Florida basketball squad full of new faces may be without one of its veteran starters.

Senior point guard Chris Chiozza suffered a sprained left shoulder early in the first half of Florida's exhibition game at Jacksonville Thursday. After being examined, Chiozza attempted to play through the pain, but later left the game for a second time and did not return. In the second half, he emerged from the locker room in warm-up gear with ice on his shoulder, according to reports and the radio webcast.

On the post-game webcast interview, head coach Mike White said that the team trainer did not believe Chiozza's injury was serious. White told reporters after the game, however, that he was "really concerned" about Chiozza, who will be further evaluated Friday. Junior guard Jalen Hudson told media members he expects Chiozza to be back Sunday.

Without a true backup point guard on the team, the Gators could use multiple players at the "1" spot if Chiozza has to miss.

Florida topped Jacksonville 88-47 in the charity exhibition game. The Gators return to the court Sunday to host Tampa in their second and final exhibition game before the 2017-18 season tips off.

Update: It was reported Friday that Chiozza will be out 7-10 days, setting up a potential return for Florida's season opener against Gardner-Webb on Nov. 13.
