Recruiting wrap: Schwartz holds more than 20 major offers, but Florida seems to be the leader to land his commitment.

The breakdown: Football people will tell you speed isn’t everything. They’ll also tell you that track speed is different than football speed. Still, a certain level of quickness is tosses such colloquialisms aside. In April, Schwartz set the youth world record in the 100m with a time of 10.15. And while his future is brightest in track, he’s no schlub of a wide receiver, either. He has decent length to go along with his speed, but it’s his athleticism that makes him special. Schwartz may not be a polished football player, but his upside is too large to ignore.

Recruiting wrap: Scaife is committed to Miami.

The breakdown: The knock on Scaife is his sawed-off build. That said, it’s hard to argue with the results. The Miami-bound offensive lineman was dominant at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas in South Florida. He’ll play guard in college and likely do well at the position. His effectiveness will grow as he takes off bad weight and adds muscle. Scaife has impressively light feet for a prospect of his size, but his lower body strength is what sets him apart.

Recruiting wrap: Garner recently picked up an offer from Florida State and should see his recruitment take off even more than it already has this summer.

The breakdown: Garner made his mark at this spring’s Pylon 7v7 in Miami. There, he showed he was more than just elite length. Garner’s size jumps off the page, but he’s capable of covering downfield and boasts the necessary versatility to play numerous spots in the secondary.

Recruiting wrap: Takacs lists a number of offers. Notre Dame and Florida are among the front-runners to land his commitment. Georgia, Florida State and Wisconsin are also involved.

The breakdown: Takacs turned heads at on the camp circuit this year and took home MVP honors at a Rivals 3 Stripe Camp event. Takacs has the size to block nearly anyone he’s tasked with blocking but also flashes incredible quickness for a prospect of his size. He’s capable of being a offensive weapon in any conference.

Recruiting wrap: Briggs lists a number of major offers, including ones from Florida, Florida State, Miami and Oregon.

The breakdown: Briggs brings long arms and a 6-foot-4 frame to the table. It’s his power, however, that surprises. Briggs boasts a lean frame but is able to shrug off blocks from much larger linemen. He’s quick enough and proved himself to be one of the more balanced and versatile defensive ends in the area this camp season.

STOCK DOWN

Recruiting wrap: Williams is committed to Alabama.

The breakdown: Williams is an impressive prospect. He gets open routinely and boasts a nice burst. His struggle, it seems, is with dropping passes. Williams has the acceleration and the physical tools to overcome his limited size should he straighten out the drop issues that seem to plague him in multiple settings. There’s no denying that Williams is a high-level prospect, but there are more complete receivers in the region.

Recruiting wrap: Reed is committed to Miami.

The breakdown: Anytime a prospect of Reed’s size undergoes knee surgery, it’s smart to proceed with caution. Reed isn’t in for some dramatic free fall to a three-star ranking or anything of the sort, but there’s certainly reason to temper expectations until he bounces back in game action. Reed certainly has the size and the power to be a can’t-miss player, but a wait-and-see approach is warranted.
