Florida visits with, lands in top five of four-star defensive end

While in the state of Virginia on Wednesday the duo of defensive line coach Chris Rumph and defensive back coach Torrian Gray made a stop by Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal to see defensive end Luiji Vilain.

Due to NCAA rules the Florida assistants weren’t able to speak directly with the Rivals100 defender. They were however able to make their presence known to Vilain.

“They came by, but I really didn’t get to talk to them,” said Vilain. “They talked to my coach most of the time. I just waved to them so they know I saw that they were there.”

The Gators, who offered the four-star edge rusher back in February, have been keeping in constant contact over the last few months.

“I speak with Coach Torrian Gray a lot,” said Vilain. “I text him like two or three times a week and I talk to Coach [Chris] Rumph like two or three times a week as well. I have a good relationship with both of those guys. Coach Gray stresses getting to know each other and get to know him as a person, so we keep in contact. Coach Rumph is cool too from the moment I met him he’s been straight up with me.”

Currently the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder has over two-dozen offers from schools coast-to-coast. However there are five programs Vilain feels are sticking out the most.

“I would say my top five is Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Virginia Tech and Southern Cal,” explained Vilain. “I just want to get coaching staffs and what they think of me as a player.”

Going forward Vilain doesn’t have any solid visit plans for the next few months. He is looking to possible end his recruitment sometime in the summer, but would like to try and see three campuses before pulling the trigger.

“I want to see Florida, Michigan and Georgia possibly sometime this summer but I don’t have any visits set I just would like to see them. I could also use an official visit to Florida in the fall too if I am not committed by then.”
