Florida played host to quite a few of the top prospects in the country for their Friday Night Lights Camp. Before and after the event Inside the Gators caught up with several of them for a quick Q&A session.
2017 quarterback commit Jake Allen
On what the Friday Night Lights atmosphere was like...
"It was great coming out and competing and we got a couple of commits on the night. I got to talk to guys like Nate Craig, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and big time people like that. When they are ready to hop on board, I will be there to greet them."
Thoughts on working with the Florida coaches...
"It was awesome. They are great coaches and I look at them like father figures. How they act with me and show me love is great to be around. I love being around them and learning from them."
On who he is recruiting for the Gators...
"Really, I am after anyone that will listen to me. Donovan Peoples-Jones is my guy I really want to work on for my class. I was after Binjimen Victor on the ride up. I told them all, 'Whoever sits in the front seat, has to commit to Florida.'"
2017 Rivals100 wide receiver James Robinson
Thoughts on Florida...
"I like them a lot. It's just the love they show me and the way they go about players during their recruitment."
Schools sticking out...
"I visited Auburn and had a nice time there. It's mainly Clemson and Florida though. The bond I have with the schools and coaches is getting strong. It's all I want from a coaching staff."
Message from Florida wide out coach Kerry Dixon...
"He really just wants me to grow up to be a man the right way. It's not about football with him. It's trying to be a father figure."
Time line for a commitment decision...
"Probably do it on TV or something my senior year."
2017 Rivals100 running back Anthony Davis
Thoughts on visiting Florida...
"I want to meet the players and talk with the coaches more. I like it up here, it's a good team and program. I can see myself here."
Message from the Gators coaches...
"I talk with Coach [Kirk] Callahan mostly and I like him a lot. He is a good person. I like coach [Tim] Skipper too, he is a good running back coach and a cool guy."
Visits for the fall...
"I want to get to Miami, Florida, Clemson and probably Auburn."
2017 Miami four-star tight end commit Tre McKitty
Reason for visiting Florida for the second time in two weeks...
"Just to hang around the coaches some more and just watch the camp go down."
Message from the Florida coaches...
"They are recruiting me pretty hard now and wanted me to come up. They have been telling me how they would use me. They have been coming at me hard."
Where Florida factors in even though he is committed elsewhere...
"Florida has been a dream school since I was a kid, so I wanted to come up and meet with the coaches like [Chris] Rumph especially. Besides Miami they are at the top of my list."
Thoughts on Florida...
"I love the atmosphere of playing in the Swamp. The coaches are one of the biggest things, because their staff is great. They have a tradition at Florida. I like what coach McElwain is doing at Florida."
2017 Rivals250 offensive tackle Kai-Leon Herbert
Reason for visiting Florida for the second straight time...
"Just to meet with the coaches and talk to them for a little bit. I want to get to know them a little better. I visited earlier in the week and they offered me and I was speechless."
Interest In Florida...
"They are in the SEC of course and they are a team I watched growing up. I want to see what coach McElwain does with the program. Coach [Mike] Summers has done a great job with the offensive line. Florida is number one with me. The visit went great. They are my top school. I haven't had a number one until Florida, so this is a place I can see myself playing."
Thoughts on Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers...
"He is great. I was talking to him on my visit I took on Monday and he was going over the scheme of their offense. He talked about some of the plays and what I would do. It was good to have that."
Time line for a decision...
"I am going to wait before I try to commit. I'll do it when my dad gives me the okay to commit to any school. It's up to me and my parents when we discuss that."
