According to a report by David Furones of the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel - former Saint Thomas Aquinas five-star wide receiver Trevon Grimes has transferred from Ohio State to Florida.

"I just felt like [Florida] fit for me," Grimes told the Sentinel. "It’s close to home. Of course, being in my situation that I’m in right now, I have to be close to home.

“It was a pretty big decision for me to know that Miami is 30, 40 minutes away from my house, but I also know that my mom always told me, ‘This is about you, and you have to go where you feel comfortable,’” said Grimes, who recorded three catches for 20 yards as a freshman with the Buckeyes. “I’ve talked to [UF co-offensive coordinator Billy] Gonzales about the receiver situation, about how many receivers they have. I feel like I fit in to that offense and that program very well."

Grimes, who signed with Florida on Friday, played in two games as a freshman, catching three passes for 20 yards before leaving the team in October to go back home to South Florida to deal with a family issue.

Since then he has been taking online courses.

Because he is transferring due to a family issue, much like current Florida center T.J. McCoy, he can petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

Grimes is the second wide receiver to transfer to Florida this week, joining former Rivals250 wide out Van Jefferson, who transferred in from Ole Miss.
