Friday Night Lights Countdown: 5 North

The summer college football camp season comes to an end this weekend with Florida staging their annual Friday Night Lights Camp.
FNL, which can draw anywhere from 20-to-35 four-star and above rated prospects, has long been considered one of the two or three premiere college camps of the summer.

Even at an event such as this, there's still a handful of prospects we are looking forward to seeing for whatever reason. This week Inside the Gators will countdown the five prospects we most anticipate seeing on Friday night under the lights.
Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek wide receiver Marquez North
What was said: "Clemson one, North Carolina two, Georgia three, North Carolina State four, Florida five and Ohio State six," North said.
Competition: Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Ohio State.
Analyst Overview: "North has long been associated with Georgia as his top school, but after the Bulldogs took an additional wide receiver that he wasn't expecting they moved down the list. Now it appears North Carolina, Clemson, Florida, NC State and some others are well in the running. After missing out on a few receivers last year, Florida could really use a kid like North who is a huge receiver who can run very well." - Mike Farrell
Blake's Take: "Even though Florida currently has three receivers committed in the Class of 2013, wide receiver is such a big need for this class that a prospect the stature of North would really help set this group apart. In his latest update here on the network North had Clemson out on top, but with their recent addition of Rivals250 wide out Demarcus Robinson coming right before Friday Night Lights might be something the Gators coaching staff can play to their advantage. Also, perhaps North's former high school teammate, current Gator offensive tackle D.J. Humphries can network on the Gators' behalf." - Blake Alderman
The Skinny: Many in the Gator Nation had North near the top of their wish lists for two reasons, he is a top rated wide out and he plays at the same high school as current Gator freshman offensive lineman Humphries. For his part, North has never indicated a preference for the Gators. This trip is important because after spending some time in Gainesville with his former teammate and the coaches, he will either come out of it saying glowing things about the Gators (something he hasn't done in the past) and that will give hope to those who have lost it. Or, he won't and we can put this one to bed once and for all. If he still has Florida in fifth after the visit, it's time to look elsewhere.

The truth is, as long as Ahmad Fulwood, Rodney Adams and Marqui Hawkins stay firm in their pledges to Florida, the Gators don't have to have North. However, he isn't someone Florida would turn down either. Adding another potential playmaker on offense, especially one with his size and speed combination, would be a big positive for a class which doesn't have a great deal of speed committed offensively at this point. Here to view this Link.
