Gators add second 2011 commit

Even though there are just over two months remaining in the 2010 recruiting cycle, Florida is already looking ahead to the class of 2011. Over the weekend the Gators added their second instate commitment of the next recruiting cycle in the form of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ribault athlete A.C. Leonard.
According to the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder, once the Gators offered, he had a pretty good idea where he would eventually commit.

"They offered me sometime over the summer. I've always been a fan, I've wanted to be a Gator for years," explained Leonard. "When I've been down to Florida I feel in love with the coaches and the atmosphere."
With roughly 15 months to go before Signing Day 2011, why did he make his decision so early in the process?
"I wanted to go ahead and commit to get it out of the way to go ahead and focus on school. I told coach [Gator quarterback coach Scot] Loeffler before the game. He was fired up."
With his size and speed, Leonard could eventually line up anywhere from tight end to defensive end. As of today, he has no idea about his future position - and neither does the UF coaching staff.
"We haven't talked about it," said Leonard. "I think I can probably play linebacker or tight end. They said it's up to me, we'll figure it out when I get there."
He is already forming a friendship with fellow class of 2011 commit De'Ante Saunders.
"I talk to Popa. We text back and forth."
