Gators enter race for Rivals250 end

INSIDE THE GATORS SPRING RECRUITING TOUR: 4-star WR Fulwood | 4-star LB McMillian | 4-star DL Walker | 3-star DL Richardson | 4-star S Washington | 5-star OT Tunsil | 4-star WR Adams | 4-star S McQuay | 4-star DT Brantley | 5-star CB Hargreaves | 4-star LB Powell
When it comes to the offer list of Somerville (N.J.) Immaculata four-star defensive end Tashawn Bower, it is starting to become much easier for him to list those who haven't offered rather than give a school-by-school rundown of those who have offered.
He added yet another big name program to the list this past week when the University of Florida joined in on the hunt for Bower when they offered a scholarship to him on Wednesday.
"Coach [Dan] Quinn came by my school and just said that they saw my film, or I guess my most recent film," explained Bower. "They saw that I really work hard and like my work ethic, but they just liked what they saw and it made the pull the trigger and offer me."
The Rivals250 end has just over 30 offers to date, and says that 10 of those schools stick out.
"Auburn, Rutgers, Florida State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Auburn, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame in no order."
Now that the Gators have entered the race, Bower said his list can definitely go through some changes.
"I mean nothing is set in stone yet," said Bower. "My list is open to change."
While Bower admits that UF was an offer that he was somewhat looking for, he says that he will still need to evaluate the Gators himself.
To be blunt about it, the late to the race Gators have some recruiting to do if they hope to make up ground.
"I still just need to see them recruiting me hard because there are a lot of schools that have offered this past fall and spring and have been recruiting me hard," said Bower. "I'm looking for things like letters that are handwritten, coaches trying to talk with me on Facebook, just things of that nature."
In that regard, the 6-foot-5, 241-pound end has already seen some progress.
"I actually got a Facebook instant message from Coach Quinn last night, just saying that it was great seeing me and that he is looking forward to me getting down to talk again."
So far this spring Bower has only taken two lone visits to South Carolina and Ohio State, both he said were visits that went well.
He said that this summer is when he plans to crank up the visits.
"June 3rd is Alabama and Auburn, June 27th is Notre Dame, LSU and Georgia some time in between July and August, and Florida and Miami sometime in August," Bower said of his planned visits.
Bower is the sixth prospect the Gators have offered at the weak side end position.
