The 6-foot-6, 302-pound Rivals250 member recently cut his list down to a final three consisting of Florida, Boston College and South Carolina.
On Friday he made a pledge to the Gators - the team long considered to be the favorite.
Though he was unavailable for comment, when asked about his status via text message, Thurman confirmed that he had indeed committed to the Gators.
In becoming Florida's 11th verbal commitment of the 2011 recruiting cycle, Thurman, who was the No. 4 rated prospect on GBN's Sweet Sixteen, fills a big need along the offensive line for the Gators (Needs & Wants).
More coming up on GBN when Thurman is available for an interview at the conclusion of the event.
