One week after wrapping up an extremely successful 2013 recruiting cycle, the Florida coaching staff has already turned their attention to the Class of 2014, hosting their first Junior Day of the new recruiting cycle.
This weekend the UF coaches will welcome quite a few talented upcoming juniors and seniors to be.
The three biggest visitors that have been confirmed to be in town are a trio of Rivals100 linebackers.
Ponte Verde (Fla.) linebacker Dillon Bates is no stranger to the UF campus, having already been in town for a game this past season. The Gators are just one of many programs to have offered the Sunshine State prospect.
Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County four-star linebacker Raekwon McMillian is also making his second visit to Gainesville. Right now he has Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia as his early favorites, but if this weekend impresses - perhaps the Gators can keep themselves in the conversation and become a real option going forward.
Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley 100 linebacker Christian Miller has a busy weekend ahead of him as he will be in Tallahassee on Friday and will stop in Gainesville to visit UF on Saturday. Miller is known as one of the top linebackers in the 2014 crop and has Florida, Florida State and Alabama sticking out right now.
Another top defender in attendance this weekend is Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna Rivals 100 defensive tackle Khairi Clark. This massive 6-foot-3, 311-pound lineman is a hot target in the 2014 class.
Gainesville (Fla.) Rivals250 running back Tony James will also be attendance this weekend. Being from Gainesville James is very familiar with the school and surrounding area. Right now James is looking heavily at the big three schools in the state of Florida. The 5-foot-10, 163-pound speedster attended several games in the Swamp this past season and continues to find himself on campus at UF.
One visitor this weekend committed to another school is West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman wide receiver Travis Rudolph. This south Florida native gave his pledge to Miami a little under a month ago and while he remains a Hurricane commitment, Rudolph is still keeping his options open.
One visitor to keep an eye on this Saturday is Prichard (Ala.) Vigor Rivals250 defensive end Justin Thornton. Heading into this weekends visit the four star defensive lineman has the Gators as his leader. Thornton told Inside the Gators earlier this week that he is looking to make his commitment later this summer, perhaps sometime in August. While there is no immediate announcement expected this weekend, but still is the visit goes well, perhaps the Gators can distance themselves as a more clear cut leader in Thornton's recruitment.
Another visitor expected this weekend that has the Gators as his leader is Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive guard Travaris Dorsey. This north Florida lineman is close with 2013 Florida signee Daniel McMillian.
One of the biggest names in the Class of 2015 will also be gracing Gainesville with his presence this weekend. Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek running back Jacques Patrick has made many trips to the University of Florida and will get a chance to see more this Saturday.
