Almost every night, Miami (Fla.) Coral Reef safety Dorian Munroe listens to the sounds of his phone ringing off the hook. While he might not be thrilled to hear the constant ringing of the phone, Munroe has a pretty good idea who is calling – that would be the plethora of college football coaches recruiting him.

“(The calls) are going pretty good,” the 6-1,187-pound safety said. “I get about four or five phone calls a night. Sometimes it is kind of overwhelming but I enjoy all of it.”
Recently, Munroe has received calls from Florida, FSU, N.C State, Georgia, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State and Rutgers. UF defensive line coach Red Anderson recruits Munroe for the Gators and he calls almost every week.
“Since he is from Miami, we talk about high school football down here,” Munroe said. “We talk about how my season is going. I always ask about Florida and how they are doing. Basically just about football and life.”
Coral Reef is off to a rough start on the season as they are out to a 1-2 mark with their latest loss coming last Wednesday to Miami Central 34-7. However, Munroe had his first interception of the season in the loss.
Munroe said his total offer count is in the mid-20s. The Gators are one of Munroe’s few verbal offers, but he is confident that a written offer will eventually find its way into his hands.
“He (Anderson) always says that he wants to get me up there,” Munroe said. “He feels I will fit in good in their system. (UF defensive backs coach Dan) Disch talked to my position coach and told him that they were going to offer me.”
Munroe took an unofficial visit to UF the weekend of the second session of the Rising Senior Camp. He talked with Anderson, who gave Munroe a tour of the campus and he also talked briefly with UF head coach Ron Zook. Munroe also took unofficial visits FSU, Rutgers and Miami, which has helped these teams make Munroe’s list of favorites.
“The Florida schools are probably my top schools with Georgia, N.C. State, Auburn my top six,” he said.
“Two of my top schools are Georgia and N.C. State,” he said. “First of all, I like them because they are out-of-state. I really want to see new places, number one. Number two, they both have great coaching staffs and they really keep in touch with me. Their depth charts are very appealing. Both of them are losing a lot of people in the secondary and I do want to play early.
“I also like Florida because they have a great coach in Zook. They also have a nice young team. I can see Florida in the national championship game real soon. I like them a lot. They have a lot of kids from South Florida and my friend Demetrice Morley committed.”
Morley has been in the ear of his friend trying to get him to commit to UF, but Munroe is not sure making a commitment to any school right now is the right decision.
“He tells me I should go ahead and commit, and when he committed he wanted me to commit,” Munore said. “He was like, ‘Lets shock the recruiting world.’ But I am just waiting for the right time. Whenever I find the right school I will commit.”
Munroe plans to set up official visits at the end of the season. He took an unofficial visit to the Miami-FSU game and probably will attend the FSU-UF game later this year.
