After holding a half-scrimmage Friday afternoon and then practicing Saturday, the Gators are currently have nine of 15 spring practices in the books heading into practice No. 10 on Monday. Before today's practice, Florida head coach Jim McElwain met with the media and had plenty to say about his team.

To update you on everything that's current with Florida's football squad, Inside the Gators presents a spring midway point report where we take a closer look at McElwain's thoughts, observations we've made about the team and other tidbits we've learned over the past few weeks.

-- McElwain was overall pleased with Friday's half-scrimmage and thought there were some really, really good performances from it, but said there was some "good and bad" from it. Discussing the quarterback play from top two options Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask, McElwain said the duo did a good job with hitting on deep throws but struggled in some other areas. He added that both signal-callers missed some intermediate seam throws and inside seam passes.

“Offensively, both quarterbacks had some real explosive throws, and yet, I think our sense of urgency needs to pick up a little bit at that position," McElwain said. "Got sloppy with the ball in the read area a couple of times. We’ve got to learn from those things and understand the importance of what we need to do down there. However, our production was actually pretty good in comparison to the past. That’s a good thing."
