Gators take the next step with big-bodied 2020 RB Sam Adams

Big-bodied tailback Sam Adams II has been a top topic as of late and is now sitting at a dozen offers after receiving word from another SEC school on Wednesday evening.

Adams, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior from Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic, is now armed with a Florida Gators offer in addition to Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon State, Arizona State and California among others.

D'Andre Rogers and Ayden Hector, both 2020 prospects and teammates of Adams, were rewarded with offers from Dan Mullen's staff as well.

"I’m extremely grateful to be given an opportunity to play at the University of Florida," Adams told GatorsTerritory. "I know that they are a big football school and I love that. They have been dominant in college football for a pretty long time and that shows they are well coached.

"I don’t know too much about the Gators, but I would love to learn more, build relationships with the coaches and take a visit down there sometime."

Adams, the son of former All-Pro defensive tackle and Super Bowl champion, Sam Adams, plans to get a taste of the Swamp in the foreseeable future, but no date is scheduled at this time.

"I talked to (assistant director of player personnel) coach (Otis) Yelverton who offered," Adams said. "We were discussing about coming down for a game to visit and I’m excited to do that.

"I would love to meet the rest of the coaching staff as well."

The nation's 35th-ranked running back is still getting his feet wet with the recruiting process and plans to take a patient approach, but Wednesday's offer from the Gators is one he's giving strong consideration to.

"I haven’t really picked any standouts yet, but it’s an SEC school which is big-time, especially for the Pacific Northwest," Adams said.

Adams, who has no visits scheduled, has racked up 230 yards and three touchdowns through four games, averaging out to 11.5 yards per carry.

The three-star prospect has also reeled in six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown, while recording 16 tackles and an interception on defense.

"Nothing scheduled right now," Adams said. "I'm concentrating on the season right now and helping my team get to the state championship."
