One class of 2020 Florida in-state target who is having a very impressive travel season is Corey Walker, Jr. A long and athletic wing from Bishop Snyder in Hastings, Walker is averaging 19 points and eight rebounds while playing with Game Elite Gold 16U in the adidas Gauntlet.

At 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds Walker, who GatorsTerritory.com has seen multiple times, is the type of wing that can be a very tough matchup problem at the college level.

About his travel season, Walker said “I think our team got better since April. We picked up two new players, two big players that help contribute with our team. I’ve been doing better than last year. I’ve been contributing with the team more. I’ve been trying to be more of a leader.”

Game Elite Gold added 7-footer Walker Kessler and 6-foot-10 Ebenezer Dowuona, both members of the 2020 class, to its roster giving them impressive size and depth in the front court.

With his length, and ability to add weight to his frame, Walker will be able to play and defend multiple positions at the next level. Something college coaches have pitched to him.

“They say that I can play pretty much any position and that I can do a lot of things for their team,” said Walker.

Florida became the third high-major program to offer Walker last June, after the staff watched him at a camp. Since March the versatile forward has added offers from several other SEC programs as well as programs in the Big 12, Big East and ACC.

With that type of recruiting profile, and a top-30 ranking, Walker says players on opposing teams are coming at him.

“I feel like everybody is just trying to make a name for themselves so they try to come at anybody,” said Walker. “You’ve got to be prepared and show them what you’re made of.” Walker continued, “I think I’ve improved a lot (since high school season ended). Trying to be more consistent with my shot, playing better on defense.”

Walker, the No. 28 ranked player in the Rivals150 for the class of 2020, has taken unofficial visits to Florida and Georgia Tech and is “planning on visiting Xavier, probably Florida State.”

As a member of the 2020 class, Walker isn’t focused on making any school decisions but he has clear short-term goals. “My goals for the rest of the summer are to get top-20 and get all of the offers I can get and win the [adidas] Gauntlet.”
