Following a productive NBPA Top 100 Camp, on Tuesday Campbellsville (Ky.) Taylor County rising senior point guard Quentin Goodin, the No. 62 ranked prospect in the nation, trimmed his list of schools to five.
The finalists are Florida, Louisville, Miami, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
Goodin had been high on Florida for some time, but in the wake of Billy Donovan's departure to the NBA, the Kentucky native told InsideTheGators.com that Donovan's decision "bothered my recruiting process, but he's got to do what is best for him."
Gators head coach Mike White and his staff helped turn the tide enough to make Tuesday's cut.
"I'm really comfortable with them," Goodin said of Florida's new coaching staff. "They talk to me every day, so it's a great feeling."
Goodin helped his Rockets squad reach the NBPA Camp title game Saturday, but they came up one three-pointer short.
Goodin showcased his passing skills with four points and five assists, but the Rockets fell 78-75 to the Cavaliers. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder, who Rivals.com ranks No. 62 overall in the class of 2016, shared the backcourt with Lima (Ohio) Senior High rising senior point guard Xavier Simpson at the NBPA Camp at the University of Virginia.
In the title game Goodin finished 1-of-6 from the field, including 0-of-3 from three-point land, and added 2-of-4 at the free-throw line enroute to a four point game. He also had two rebounds and one turnover.
Goodin had four points, two rebounds, one athletic block and recorded three turnovers, in the 69-64 semifinals win over the Grizzlies. He went 2-of-8 from the field and 0-of-2 on three-pointers.
