When it was announced last week that Duke sixth-year senior quarterback Thomas Sirk would seek to utilize the grad-transfer rule in order to play his final season at the college of his choosing - immediately those in the Gator Nation sat up and took notice.
Here you have a proven, if not battle scarred, player at a position that has been a concern at Florida for years.
Coming out of Baker County High School as part of the Class of 2012 Sirk was a somewhat lightly sought after three-star who only garnered two offers from Power Five Conference programs before committing to and eventually signing with the Blue Devils.
Fast forward to the spring of 2017 and the 6-foot-4, 220-pound dual threat signal caller finds himself in the unique position of being more widely recruited now then he was as a high school senior.

When he knew he would have to go through the recruiting process once again, Sirk turned to a familiar face in former Baker County head coach Ryan Sulkowski, who is now the head coach at Coffee County High School.
“Thomas text me saying he was going to be a graduate transfer and he and coach [David] Cutcliffe had already talked and he would have his release,” explained Sulkowski. “When he told me that I went ahead and put the wheels in motion, contacting coaches I know and fielding calls from coaches when they found out.”
The list of schools who have shown interest is expansive and still growing.
So far it includes Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Stanford, Georgia Southern, Southern Mississippi, East Carolina, Minnesota and Wisconsin among others.
