A second freshman defensive back has been sidelined for the Gators.
Cornerback Ethan Pouncey shared an Instagram picture of himself on crutches Saturday, clarifying in the comments that he underwent hip surgery.
"Another obstacle to overcome but why would I quit now," Pouncey wrote on his post. "I'm grateful to be in this position but I'm not satisfied yet."
Pouncey, a four-star recruit from Winter Park, Fla., missed most of his senior season with a hip injury. As a junior, he recorded 43 tackles, eight interceptions and 21 pass breakups in 12 games played.
Florida has eight cornerbacks on the roster in addition to Pouncey, so his injury shouldn't be a significant blow depth-wise. That group includes the freshmen trio of Avery Helm, Jahari Rogers and Kamar Wilcoxson, who reclassified from the Class of 2021.
Freshman safety Fenley Graham suffered a fractured forearm in Florida's first scrimmage last month. UF coach Dan Mullen plans to give an injury report at his press conference Monday.
