Impact Analysis: Another out-of-state lineman

On Wednesday Florida picked up a much needed commitment along the offensive line when Warner Robbins (Ga.) Northside School offensive guard Brandon Sandifer chose the Gators over finalists Alabama and South Carolina. Inside the Gators takes a look at this addition with an Impact Analysis.

The Commitment: Florida was relatively late to the party when it comes to the top schools for the three-star big man. Early on it was South Carolina and Alabama at the top, but things began to change when he camped at Florida in June. Since then the Gators have stayed in contact and really pulled out all stops when he returned to campus in late July for Friday Night Lights. South Carolina was Florida's biggest competition, but after two recent commitments along the offensive line the Gamecocks just couldn't add anymore big bodies to their 2015 class - all but giving the Gators the edge by default.

What It Means For The Class: With Florida looking to take five to six offensive linemen, this is a nice pick up along the interior of the line. After several straight classes where the offensive line was neglected, in the last three classes during the Will Muschamp watch, Florida has been beefing up in the trenches. Now, with the 6-foot-3, 332-pound Sandifer combined with Florida's other interior commits Tyler Jordan and Michael Horton to go along with tackle George Brown, the Gators have four line commits. Going forward Florida is still hoping to add at least one more offensive tackle and maybe even one more guard. A few names to watch are Martez Ivey, Isaiah Prince, Jalen Merrick and Matthew Burrell Jr.

Analyst Reaction: "There's no doubt that Sandifer is a big body, and that's exactly what Florida is looking for when it comes to the interior lineman. I think he's a bit of a project in terms of when he'll be able to contribute, and will likely need a redshirt year to work on his body and get into shape to play in Florida's new offensive scheme. Either way, he's a guy who will add depth at the position going forward and could blossom under the right circumstances at the next level." - Woody Wommack Rivals.com Southeast Recruiting Analyst

Impact On Florida: Judging by the practice reports, there aren't any established interior offensive linemen currently on the roster who are underclassmen. After the season the upcoming season Florida will be looking to replace Trenton Brown and Max Garcia from the interior offensive line and then Tyler Moore will be gone after the 2015 season. Basically, the Gators will be starting over and need all the guard and center types they can get their greedy little paws on over the next two recruiting cycles.
