Impact Analysis: Quarterback help on the way

[rl]
One day following a crushing loss to rival Florida State, the Florida Gators picked up their biggest commitment of the 2016 cycle when Crawfordville (Fla.) Wakulla Rivals100 quarterback Feleipe Franks became the third verbal pledge of the day. Inside The Gators takes a closer look at this huge addition to the class with this Impact Analysis.

The Commitment: Franks has been one of the top quarterback targets, if not the top quarterback target, for the Gators since the arrival of Jim McElwain and staff. Despite his longtime commitment to LSU, McElwain and Doug Nussmeier stayed after the four-star signal-caller. After recently backing off his commitment to the Tigers and visiting for the Gators final three home games of the year, it seemed only like a matter of time before Franks made his way into the class. That all came to a head Sunday evening when Franks announced his decision over social media that he was Florida's 26th verbal commitment.
Effect on the Class: This is the second (along with Kyle Trask) and likely final commitment at the position for Florida in this recruiting cyclce. The Gators also have a commitment from Jake Allen in 2017. The biggest impact Franks might bring the 2016 class is the fact that Florida now has a Rivals100 quarterback in the fold, which can be used as a recruiting pitch to help lure some of the top wide receivers on the Gators' board.
Analyst Reaction: "Obviously, this is a huge win for Florida. It's as important on the field as it is off. This sends a message that Florida is on it's way back to being a recruiting juggernaut. Franks is known for his massive arm and that isn't going anywhere. As he becomes more accurate, he could turn into a special player. He has the size and the other physical tools to give him a chance of being a star. He needs to progress when it comes to reading coverage's, but that is pretty standard for any high school quarterback." - Rivals.com Southeast Recruiting Analyst Rob Cassidy
Impact on Florida: The Gators have a bit of a quarterback dilemma on their hands for next season. With Will Grier suspended the first six games of the season, it leaves transfer Luke Del Rio and Treon Harris as the two contestants in this quarterback battle. That doesn't exactly excite the Gator Nation. However, when you throw Franks, who is an early enrollee, into the mix, and there may be hope after all for Florida's passing offense to begin next season. It certainly can't get any worse.
