Gators linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) will be a game-time decision for No. 14 Florida's matchup against Georgia on Saturday in Jacksonville, according to Jim McElwain.
Since suffering a badly sprained ankle in the Missouri game, Davis has been a participant in Florida's past two practices as his ankle has been taped up. On Wednesday, while Davis jogged during warmups, linebacker Alex Anzalone yelled, "J.D. is back, baby!"
"Jarrad Davis came back, took reps today," McElwain said. "Obviously guys, that'll be one of those that it's got to be right with him, got to be right with the doctors. We'll see. Kind of game-time. But I'll say this: It was kind of really uplifting to the team to have him out there today and seeing him go through some things and some of the segments of practice, especially in the third down stuff we did in the red area - and during all of the non-contact skell drills and that kind of stuff. I thought he moved pretty well. One of the tackling circuits, he got beat up by one of the sleds. The sled bit back, but it was good to see."
Meanwhile, defensive end Jordan Sherit (knee) should be back against Georgia but limited reps. McElwain said Sherit, who has missed the past two games, should be "ready to roll."
Defensive Bryan Cox Jr. (thumb) and defensive tackle Joey Ivie (thumb) are probable for this weekend's contest, according to McElwain. Cox missed the Missouri game due to a pre-game injury, while Ivie has been sidelined the past two contests.
"Give Bryan Cox this: He wrapped that thing up and he's been in full pads and doing everything he can to get out there and get some plays for the Gators, which is great to see," McElwain said. "I think he's feeling comfortable with it. That was good."
The status of tight end DeAndre Goolsby (finger) also looks optimistic for the Georgia game.
"He has been doing some things the last two days," McElwain said. "Probably a little bit more than I anticipated, to be honest. That speaks for how much this means to him."
