As Inside the Gators has learned, Davis is currently wearing a walking boot for his left ankle sprain. Sources close to Davis have indicated optimism about his injury situation to ITG.

Senior linebacker Jarrad Davis (left leg) is getting an MRI on his left leg and hasn't received the results just yet, Florida head coach Jim McElwain said after Florida's 40-14 win over Missouri. However, X-rays show that there's nothing broken, McElwain added.

"We'll get that looked that," McElwain said. "He was in pretty good spirits as he was headed up to get the MRI."

Davis, who finished with eight tackles, a quarterback hurry and 1.5 TFL on Saturday, suffered the injury in the third quarter against Missouri. After writhing in pain on the field and getting looked at by trainers, Davis needed assistance to head to the locker room. He did not return for the remainder of the contest.

Freshman linebacker David Reese filled in for Davis and finished with six tackles. McElwain felt Reese played with great energy and attention to detail in Davis' absence.

"He's a guy that when he's come in, he's showed up," McElwain said of Reese. "He showed up on the stat-line. He shows up. Obviously, missing Jarrad's huge. Here's your team leader and your guy who's played so many snaps. And yet, here's the great thing when you look at that unit. There wasn't a panic."

Meanwhile, redshirt senior defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. did not play against Missouri after suffering a thumb injury pre-game. McElwain said "we need to get the thumb guy to look at it on Monday."

"I thought some of those young guys - you guys watched the game - I thought they played great," McElwain added.

Running back Jordan Cronkrite (upper leg) couldn't play down the stretch in the contest and "strained something in there," according to McElwain. Cornerback Jalen "Teez" Tabor is "fine," per McElwain, and was out of the game for a stretch as a precautionary measure but eventually returned. Tight end DeAndre Goolsby (finger) suffered his injury Saturday but also soon returned to the game.

"I think his pinky was a little sore," McElwain said of Goolsby.
