Instant Alalysis: Three in a row

No. 18 Florida (4-1, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) didn't look like its old self Saturday night against Arkansas (3-3, 0-2 SEC), but that wasn't always a bad thing. Instant Analysis takes a look at the Gators' 30-10 win.
IT WAS OVER WHEN: Returning running back Valdez Showers took a shovel pass and turned it into a nine-yard touchdown that gave the Gators a 30-10 lead with 4:47 remaining in the fourth quarter.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: Florida has missed out on some big-time playmakers at wide receiver in recent recruiting classes, but that doesn't account for the fact the Gators have had a pretty good playmaker in their locker room all along. Solomon Patton became the first UF wide receiver since 2009 Riley Cooper to record two 100-yard games in one season. Patton did so with touchdown catches of 51 and 38 yards, both plays on which he used his speed to beat out the Arkansas secondary.
THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: There were a few hiccups - two sacks - against the SEC's most successful pass rush, but overall it was another big night for junior quarterback Tyler Murphy, what with a career-high (read: three-game-high) 240 yards passing and three touchdowns. Murphy led the Gators on a night where running backs accounted for just 88 yards on the ground.
WHAT A PLAY: The Gators appeared fine with easing into halftime with a three-point lead or trying a long field goal until Murphy sensed pressure on a third and 12, stepped out of it and found Patton open in the middle of the field. Patton broke the play outside for a 51-yard score.
THIS MATCHUP PROVED KEY: Brandon Allen vs. the Florida defense. Arkansas brought a strong game plan into Gainesville and executed it to perfection early. Even more stunning, the Razorbacks dominated the Gators up front on both sides in the first quarter. It was Allen's play that cost Arkansas, starting with a pick-six to Loucheiz Purifoy and continuing with various errant throws.
