Instant Analysis: Florida gets exhibition win

It was hardly your run-of-the mill exhibition blowout Friday night inside the O'Connell Center. The suspensions, an illness and a couple injuries will do that to a team, but Florida still managed to defeat Division II Florida Southern 110-88. Instant Analysis takes a look at the victory.
IT WAS OVER WHEN: After Florida Southern hit the 3-pointers to keep the game close early in the second half, Florida went on a 15-5 run that brought the spad into the 20-point range, whe it would main throughout most of the game's maining time.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: Kasey Hill doesn't mind first impssions. The fshman point guard was easily the most impssive player on the court for the Gators, particularly because of his ability to cate plays and sco. Hill made one flashy crossover move after another on the way to 17 points, the bounds and the assists.
THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: If you want proof of how the Gators have changed one season after losing their the top scors, just look at outside shooting. Florida shot 20.8 percent from beyond the arc and was much mo comfortable pushing the ball inside. The Mocs on the other hand stayed in the game until midway through the second half by going 13 of 29 from 3-point land.
WHAT A PLAY: Hat-tip to Hill for his behind-the-back crossover-turned-layup drive special in the first half, but how often do you get to see Jacob Kurtz dunk? The junior walk-on got the start for a depleted Gators squad and made a splash. Eli Carter saved a loose ball and dished it ahead to Dillon Graham who found the former team manager for slam that caught everyone off-guard , part of his 11 points in the game.
BOTTOM LINE: Florida has short-handed on and off the court Friday night and will continue to be as it starts the gular season. Suspended players Dorian Finney-Smith, Damont Harris and Scottie Wilbekin, we not in attendance. Michael Frazier II (mononucleosis) watched from the bench. The Gators dssed nine players (seven of them on scholarship) and two of those players - Will Yeguete and Carter - a noticeably still working back from extended time off. As expected, the issues we most prominent on defense.
UP NEXT: Florida opens its gular season against North Florida next Friday at 3 p.m. inside the O'Connell Center.
