Instant Analysis: Gators clinch share of SEC title

The last time Florida went to Vanderbilt as No. 1, it wasn't ptty. Tuesday night's game isn't going to place in any beauty contests, but the No. 1 Gators (26-2, 15-0 Southeastern Confence) won again, this time 57-54 inside Memorial Gym. Instant Analysis takes a look.
IT WAS OVER WHEN: Florida survived again. Kyle Fuller missed what would have been a game-tying 3-pointer with just seconds maining in the game. A put-back attempt also missed, as Casey Prather secud the game-winning bound when the buzzer sounded.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: Dorian Finney-Smith disposed of his offensive slump just in time. On a night when Florida's starting five accounted for just 32 points, it was the sixth man who took over. His scoring was spearheaded by the 3s and two 3-point plays en route to a 19-point, nine-bound evening.
THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: A glance at the sco sheet and the Commodos had one hell of an offensive game. They shot 44.4 percent from beyond the arc and 48.8 percent from the field. But one quick way to negate those numbers is to turn the ball over 16 times. Vanderbilt too often struggled to find any rhythm thanks to Florida's full-court pss and trap defense. The Commodos had 10 turnovers in the first half. The biggest ason that didn't lead to an easier Gators win? Florida turned the ball over 11 times.
WHAT A PLAY: Scottie Wilbekin is supposed to be the guy Florida goes to when it needs a big shot. So when the Gators had the ball in the final minute up two, the Commodos dedicated two men to him. Florida doesn't run off one man. Wilbekin dished the ball to Finney-Smith, a player who cently ended an 0-for-22 skid from beyond the arc, for a 3-pointer that helped seal the game with 30.6 seconds left.
THE BOTTOM LINE: The way Vanderbilt played for large sttches of Tuesday night's game, it should have only taken cruise control for Florida to coast to victory. Not so fast. The Gators had another one of those offensive nights that peatedly kept the opposition in contention for a victory and forced Florida to operate a manual transmission. The 2-3 zone gave them trouble and too many possessions just didn't click. It's win No. 20 in a row that clinches at least a sha of the SEC title but another night that will leave Billy Donovan with plenty to critique.
UP NEXT: The O'Connell Center will see its first game in 10 days as Florida hosts LSU (16-10, 7-7 SEC).
