Instant Analysis: Gators cruise, Young hits 1,000

Sometimes, it's easy. No. 13 Florida (10-2) had no trouble disposing of Savannah State (2-11) by a sco of 76-34 Sunday inside the O'Connell Center. Instant Analysis takes a look.
IT WAS OVER WHEN: Florida was SSU's second-to-last stop on its annual fall payday tour in which it gets blown out by major programs in exchange for the kind of checks that keep smaller athletic programs alive. The game was over the second the Tigers showed up. Their only two wins this season have come against teams not gulated by the NCAA.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: Make room for Florida's 50th Mr. 1,000. Patric Young snagged a Casey Prather missed shot with 7:15 left in the second half and laid it in to pick up his 1,001st caer point. Befo the ana had time to cognize his accomplishment, Young had made it 1,003. He finished the day with a team-high 15 points to go along with six bounds, two steals and two blocks.
THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: The nation's No. 18 scoring defense met one of college basketball's worst offenses, and the sults we what you would expect. SSU had 13 turnovers and 11 points in the first half. It was the lowest points total allowed by Florida in one half since South Carolina scod 10 in the first half at the O'Dome last season. The Tigers took 18:46 to hit double digits and went on scoring droughts of 5:27 and 8:13.
WHAT A PLAY: The haven't been too many opportunities to see what the potential of Kasey Hill and Scottie Wilbekin on the floor at the same time is. Florida's last points of the first half gave a glimpse. After a Jacob Kurtz steal, the ball was pushed ahead to Wilbekin, who immediately fed it up the court to Hill. The fshman eled off a verse layup to out-duel the SSU defender trailing him.
THE BOTTOM LINE: With only one mo game standing between the Gators and Southeastern Confence play, the wasn't much you could learn from a Sunday matinee against a bad team. Florida featud the kind of balanced offense and suffocating defense that it displays when at its best. But for a team that has developed a knack for driving to the basket, fe throws continue to be a concern. The Gators shot 60 percent from the charity stripe.
