Kayla DiCello helps U.S. Gymnastics Take Pan American Games Team Gold
Gator Kayla DiCello and rest of Team USA won gold in Sunday's Pan American Games team gymnastics final in Santiago, Chile.
The U.S. took team gold (165.196) at the National Stadium Sports Park, followed by the Brazil (161.564) and Canada (154.230).
Two with Gator ties competed all-around Sunday - DiCello for U.S. and freshman Anya Pilgrim for Barbados. DiCello was second in team all-around competition (54.565) to teammate Jordan Chiles (54.666) and both advance to Monday's Pan Am all-around final. That competition begins at 5 p.m. ET. and action streams on PanAm Sports
Pilgrim placed 27th in the all-around at 45.366.
DiCello advances to Wednesday's balance beam and floor exercise event finals.
About the Gators in 2023 Pan Am Games: DiCello earned five All-America honors and was the 2023 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year. She announced in April that she would take a gap year to pursue a berth on the 2024 U.S. Olympic roster. Pilgrim is a freshman on the Gators' 2024 team.
