Junior linebacker Camrin Knight plans to transfer from Florida and join Georgia State.

This offseason, Florida opted to move Knight from tight end to linebacker to address its shortage of depth at the position this past spring.

The 6-foot-3, 246-pound Knight, a Tallahassee native, appeared in just four games as a sophomore in 2016 as a reserve tight end. He avoided a redshirt as a freshman, appearing in eight games and at times seeing playing time as a third tight end in goal-line sets. In two seasons, he did not record any stats on offense.

With Florida low at numbers at linebacker this spring, Knight repped with the second-team defense. Following the conclusion of spring ball, Knight underwent right knee surgery in April and left knee surgery a month later. He was expected to be ready to return for the start of fall training camp.

A three-star recruit out of Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School who was also offered by Cincinnati, East Carolina, Georgia Tech and North Carolina, Knight is the fourth player from Jim McElwain’s inaugural recruiting class at Florida in 2015 to transfer from the program. Knight joins running back Jordan Cronkrite (USF), offensive lineman Brandon Sandifer and tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe (USC).
