To kick off the weekend Florida hosted Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola offensive tackle Parker Braun. The 6-foot-4, 272-pounder on Friday. He will also visit Auburn this weekend as well and made the stop in Gainesville on his way up to the Plains. The Gators offered Braun last month and he continues to pick up big time offers.
On Saturday the Gators expect a ton of prospects in town, with a big emphasis on the wide receiver position.
Coconut Creek (Fla.) Rivals250 wide receiver Binjimen Victor makes his first top to the University of Florida. His teammate, Rivals100 cornerback Trayvon Mullen, will also be on campus. Both prospects are near the top of the Gators recruiting board, and this visit is big for both parties.
The Gators will also have Miami commit Isaiah Johnson on hand as well, after picking up an offer from the Gators this past Thursday.
A few other pass catchers expected in are Citra (Fla.) North Marion four-star Freddie Swain, and three-star wide receiver C.J. Riley. At this time Riley doesn't have an offer from the Orange and Blue. Tallahassee (Fla.) North Florida Christian Rivals250 athlete Korey Charles will also be on campus, who the Gators like on the offensive side of the ball.
Florida commit Rick Wells will also be in town looking to help the Gators recruit.
The Gators top running back target will also be making his first trip to Gainesville as well.
College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy Rivals250 running back Elijah Holyfield is coming off visits to Auburn and Tennessee and is stopping by UF while on spring break. The Gators have been relentless in their recruitment of Holyfield, and sent running backs coach Tim Skipper by his school before National Signing Day 2015. The Gators plan to take one running back in the 2016 cycle after picking up two big time backs during this past cycle.
Another prospect that can play running back if asked if Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge running back Tyrek Tisdale, who recently picked up an offer from the Gators. However UF likes this three-star as an athlete and would like to line him up around the field in the backfield, in the slot, as well as out wide. He has the Gators in his current top four along with South Carolina, Rutgers and Louisville.
The Gators are also in search of a bigger tight end in 2016 that can both catch and help in the blocking game. One name that has been targeted is Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern three-star Christian Roberson. Tight end's coach Greg Nord is who extended the offer to this 6-foot-6, 230-pounder.
Speaking of the blocking game the Gators will have a few big bodies on campus this weekend. Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive guard Solomon Kindley will make the trip with teammates, looking for an offer from the Gators. He currently is hearing form the staff, but has yet to be offered. Another big man looking for an offer is Cocoa (Fla.) three-star offensive guard Jawaan Taylor. The 6-foot-4, 345-pounder currently has Florida and Miami at the top and is hoping for an offer from UF sometime soon. According to Taylor he has been talking with offensive line coach Mike Summers through social media, who tells Taylor he needs to cut some weight.
A few standouts on the defensive side of the ball expected is headlined by Cocoa (Fla.) Rivals100 cornerback Chauncey Gardner. The former UF commit still has the Gators among his favorite schools and is hoping to hold off another commitment until national signing day 11 months from now. Another big time visitor coming all the way from Alabama is Rivals250 defensive tackle Darius Whitfield. The Gators recently offered this four-star tackle and will host him on campus for the first time.
Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines three-star defensive end JaQuan Bailey is heading to Gainesville this weekend hoping for an offer from his favorite team growing up. If an offer is extended while in the Swamp there is a good chance that he will pull the trigger. Another prospect looking for an offer is Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge linebacker Jonathan Jones, who is coming off MVP performances at both the Nike camp in Orlando as well as the Rivals Speed and Skills Challenge this past weekend. Michigan is currently his top school, but an offer from UF would definitely change things up. Duke and Kentucky are also in the mix here as well, as he has a lot of family in the Lexington area.
This weekend isn't all for the 2016 class as a few of the Southeast's top underclassmen are also expected. A few names to watch are Ohio State commit Bruce Judson, running back Jamari Peacock, offensive lineman Zach Leonard, and Georgia linebacker Nate McBride.
Tune in Saturday for live updates from Junior Day and throughout the weekend for updates on those who are visiting.
