McElwain Notebook: Cleveland ruled out
Florida head coach Jim McElwain confirmed Wednesday that sophomore wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland will not play Saturday against LSU. Cleveland suffered a high ankle sprain in the Gators' 38-24 win over Vanderbilt.
"We talked about Tyrie Cleveland, who, to this guy's credit, he was in there working his tail off trying to get back to play," McElwain said. "It's one of those deals when you go through that, he'd do anything to go out and get on the field and I think that speaks not only for him, but for a lot of guys on this team just wanting to go play.
"But the one thing is, you know, when you're truly hurt the thing you can do is make it worse and prolong it. I'm a believer that, you know what? When it's right and it's ready, he'll be out there. So he'll miss this game and yet he's doing everything he can. I just can't say enough about that. Really that's about it."
